Boom Angle Indicator Selection Guide

One of the most frequent questions we receive from our customers is which Boom Angle Indicator should they choose for their application. Our boom angle indicators come in a left and a right side pictured below. The placement of the “0°” marking on the boom angle indicator is what dictates if a boom angle indicator is a “left” or a “right”.

Operator Position

The most important factor when deciding which side boom angle indicator you need is the position of the operator relative to the boom arm. The operator of the boom arm can be either on the left side or right side of the boom arm.

Left

The operator is positioned to the left of the Boom Arm. When the operator is on the left of the boom arm and the boom arm lifts from the front, you would require a left Boom Angle Indicator. When the 0° marking is offset to the left and the boom arm lifts up, the ball rolls to the right giving the operator a visual measurement of the boom arm angle.

Right

The operator is positioned to the right of the Boom Arm. When the operator is on the right of the boom arm and the boom arm lifts from the front, you would require a right Boom Angle Indicator. When the 0° marking is offset to the right and the boom arm lifts up, the ball rolls to the left giving the operator a visual measurement of the boom arm angle.
